As I said in my last post, strangely not much long ago, I was in the middle of creating a new website named The Arcanery.
Please redirect yourself to the new page! It is located at:

Shorter name, shorter URL, more content? Maybe. I think so.
The page is still in the works, I basicly copy+pasted everything from here over there, and I’m in the middle of making new banners and such, so times indeed ‘r a changin.
I have been thinking for some time that I might change the title of this blog, because it almost insues that this is merely a source for guides, and that isn’t all I really want to write about.
No, no. /Soothe, it’s ok. This blog would most definitely still be (almost) entirely centristic around mages, but it has the option to steer clear of said topics though! Noteworthy note: I don’t intend of making boss strategies anymore. Those were the most tedious things to write up, and I shall forever banish them from here. Begone!
But yes, the name. Almost 24/7, I am logged into ventrilo, wither or not I’m actually present. Out of the guilds I’ve been in as of late, I’ve always been an officer and had the right as an administrator on vent as well. And so- I’ve always rested comfortably in my self created room: The Arcanery.
The Arcanery is a place of mystique, with new discoveries and wonders being unveiled with every passing moment, and where questions are answered with questions and where mage nerfs don’t exist! it is a place where the limitations of a ventrilo channel become unclear, and as time progresses it makes a definition for itself! And yet- it is never defined. Never held back so it can fulfill some Webster’s “say-so” of what it should be. It is never still, never the same. It is The Arcanery, and it is all that ever has, and all that will ever be.
Oh, RP, you get me though the day.
/stopspellcast RP

Well, over the course of the next millennia, things ’round here will be shapeshifting- fuck shapeshifting, we don’t want any druid gimmicks in here- RE-SPEC’ING and putting points into BIGGER and BETTER talents. And from what I can see, The Arcanery will have a much larger mana pool to draw it’s power from, so we won’t be going oom ANYTIME soon.
(Metaphor, anyone?)
It is also a noteworthy-note to mention that while I will strive to find good quotes to end posts with, I may not end with one every time, unfortunately since great ones don’t always come to mind, however again, I will always try to! However this is a page among posts, and it will get one (and rightly so).
Quote of the Day:
Scene:
Kael’Thas Sunstrider, who you may know from Tempest Keep, and Arthas, who you’d hopefully know since you do not lack the basic functions of a human being, are fighting in Icecrown. Illidian and Kael’Thas are battling the undead in hopes to kill the Lich King (who is not yet “one” with Arthas). This is because Kil’jaeden (last boss in Sunwell) seeks revenge for plotting against the Burning Legion, and aiding what would eventually result in the downfall of Archimonde. Note: Illidian answers to Kil’jaeden, and Kael’thas teamed with Illidian. Hence, they fight together. It’s also important to know that Kael’thas loved Jaina Proudmoore, the main topic of this quote, however Jaina was in love with Arthas.
“I took your woman,” he said, continueing to try to anger the mage, although he knew, and probably Kael knew, that Jaina had never belonged to the elf. “I held her in my arms at night. She tasted sweet when I kissed her, Kael. She–”
“Loathes you know,” Kael’thas replied. “You sicken and disgust her, Arthas. Anything she felt for you has since turned to hatred.”
Arthas’s chest contracted oddly. He realized he had not thought about how Jaina regarded him now. He had always done his best to thrust all thoughts of her away when they drifted into his mind. Was it true? Did Jaina really–

Hello, it’s been awhile. As I stare into the looking glass, I fear there is much to talk about yet not enough, and I quietly ponder…
Why do people put “tips appreciated” in their trade chat spams?
It should seem fairly obvious that they would be accepted, and spamming such nonsence should only be needed in the event individuals were not accepting tips…
All ponderings aside, we has buffs! No that is not a grammatical error, WE HAS BUFFS.
- Arcane Blast: Mana cost reduced by 12%.
- Invisibility: Can no longer be interrupted by a hostile action or damage done during the 3 second fade time, however an invisible mage can still be stunned or silenced.
- Talents
- Fire
- Empowered Fire: In addition to its existing effects, this talent now also grants a 33/67/100% chance to regain 1% of base mana each time the Ignite talent deals damage.
Oh, buffs indeed. This is somewhat delayed news, but for those who don’t dig into the blue posts often, here is a tid-bit of information you may not be aware of! It’s a possible change that Ghostcrawler suggested in a forum post :
“…However, we don’t think the mage mana regen mechanics were cutting it, which is why we implemented the new mana return on Ignite. I think the patch notes said the return was 1%, but 2% might be more appropriate.”
*Note: In between the text above and what is to be written below, is a gap of time. During this time, I went to see Star Trek the movie. It was actually pretty good.*
It’s also noteworthy that living bomb ticks will no longer trigger ignite, as the talent has been reworded to say that “all non-periodic” critical strikes cause it to burn for 40% more.
In some more delayed news, the new tier gear has been released- it’s stats and bonuses anyway, the appearance is yet to be known (T8 placeholder atm).
It would ruin the mystique I guess.
*Note: In between the text above and what is to be written below, I have purchased Arthas: Rise of the Lich King via Amazon Kindle for my iPod touch. I read 5 chapters, and it is quite enjoyable, I assure you.
Back on track, here are the new set bonuses for Tier 8, copied right from MMO-CHAMPION like a pro:
Mage
- Mage T9 2P Bonus (Class: Mage) — Increases the armor you gain from Ice Armor by 20%, the mana regeneration you gain from Mage Armor by 10%, and converts an additional 25% of your spirit into critical strike rating when Molten Armor is active.
- Mage T9 4P Bonus (Fireball, Frostbolt, Frostfire Bolt, and Arcane Blast) (Class: Mage) — Increases the critical strike chance of your Fireball, Frostbolt, Frostfire Bolt, and Arcane Blast spells by 5%.
Not too shabby of bonuses I’d say
Remember when I posted before about how combustion is looking worse and worse since Living Bomb periodic crit’s consume charges? Well if you don’t, people are starting to opt out of combustion in favor for Student of the Mind. If you armory me, it’s what I’m talking about. With the 10% bonus to spirit, it’s a passive buff to crit. And now since 25% more spirit is going to be converted with the new 2P set bonus, it’s going to render Combustion even more obsolete.
To me, the simplest way to save combustion as a viable spell is to slap a “only effects non-period spells” to the spell tip. Though, simple fixes rarely happen, unfortunately.
*Note: I just got back from seeing the movie Year One. It was pretty funny. Yes, I am incredibly terrible at sitting down and getting things done in a timely manner. I apologize.
Aside from what is listed here, there is not much left to tell. My mage is no longer bad- I dropped herbalism for Enchanting, just in time to not be in a raiding guild. Also, my long awaited scythe has finally dropped from Ahune. I do tend to regularly sacrifice around 600sp just to pvp with it on.
Craft-A-Title: Azryu, Reaper of All Souls
It has a ring to it.
Anyway, I suppose I shall end the post with a suggestion:
Remember, you gotta do the cooking by the book!
*Note: The link above leads you to a youtube video which (probably?) should never be watched by anyone easily offended or doesn’t find stupid things funny. However, if your like me and enjoy the comical, and often twisted, type of comedy, proceed!
Quote of the Day:
(Speaking to Arthas)
“Lad, no one feels ready. No one feels he deserves it. And you know why? Because no one does. It’s grace, pure and simple. We are inherently unworthy, and simply because we’re human, and all human beings-aye, and elves, and dwarves, and all the other races- are flawed. But the Light loves us anyway. It loves us for what we sometimes can rise to in rare moments. It loves us for what we can do to help others. And it loves us because we can help it share its message by striving daily to be worthy, even though we understand that we can’t ever truly become so.”

If you’ve ever seen The Nightmare before Christmas,
you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Until recently, I really never cared for, or cared to ever give PvP a chance to be fun. However, it seems I’ve gone from 100% PvE to… well pretty much the same thing, except I actually am building a PvP set, somewhat seriously in fact. It’s kind of a “what’s this?” moment for me, ha.
Not so much for Arenas at this point, perhaps in the future.
Why am I telling you this? Well, that’s why I haven’t posted much as of recently. That and perhaps I really don’t want to make myself feel as if I -have- to write something during a certain timeframe. Usually its [HUGE CHUNK OF CONTENT] -small break- [HUGE CHUNK OF CONTENT].
In all likelihood, the [HUGE CHUNK OF CONTENT] is coming up soon.
Anyway, in the world of mages again, there is not much to be said. We do great dps in Ulduar, providing you are TtW+Fireball or a skilled Arcane mage. I haven’t seen a mage venture into the mystical world of Frostfire’ing as of lately, so I cannot report on it that much.
In other unrelated news, my paladin is on the wrathgate questline… nearing the end. Excuse my french, but this shit is the stuff I level alts for… this questline will never get old.
To end this post, I shall give you a quote from a part of the questline, one of my all-time favorites…
The bravery of mortals never fails to astound me. Death affixes its cold stare upon you and in return you rise to the challenge its assertion! It is why you kind is so loved… and so hated.

Is the grip loosening?
With every passing day, it seems that we hear about one friend in-game, or another blogger who is starting to get what can only be coined as “burned out”.
Big Red Kitty, Resto4Life, Out of Mana- these are some of the more obvious ones, but I would dare say that a lot of less frequented bloggers are starting to feel the wall of apathy, as our favorite bartender Larísa, from The Pink Pigtail Inn, coined it in her post about the issue.
What is causing this surge of apathy?
The more I think about it, the more I start to think about how I felt when I first started writing, and when the blog started to get over 20 readers per day. Once I seen people were reading, some even commenting, the fire that kept me working would just keep getting rekindled. However, there in itself lays the problem.
Where do you stop?
At what point does what you started to do out of enjoyment transform into something that you start to feel condemned to doing?
I think a large part of the problem is authors begin to feel a certain obligation to writing on some type of schedule. While it’s not tragic to say, “I would like to try to get at least one post a week, even if it’s just a silly one,” however when it starts to become something more then that, it starts to borderline becoming a job.
As I said when I commented Larísa’s post, I think as an author who is starting to feel burned out needs to ask themselves the following questions:
Why did I start to write?
Is this why I’m still writing today?
I could follow those questions with a few examples of what some thoughts and responses might be, but the fact remains that there are far too many answers to these questions to even fathom. But what I will follow it with is this:
If you are starting to feel burned out, just take a chill pill for a while. Loose the Blizzard Authenticator for a week, write the most illogical post about how the world would be a better place if it were only covered in nacho cheese and trees produced tortilla chips. Or instead of loosing your authenticator, perhaps actually log in for a change and play for once, instead of writing or researching for a topic.
I’m not going to say that I am the lord of all things right and intelligible, and that everything in this post should be considered 100% fact, because it really is just my opinion.
But the point I am trying to get across is that do something different from what you were doing before. As the saying goes, “You never know how much you love something until it’s gone.” If you take a break, go throw a football if your the outdoorsy type, or perhaps go out and get some beer and wings with a good friend, or whatever “floats your boat (as it’s so eloquently described)”, I think you will truly come back to doing it if you really enjoy it. Ideally, and hopefully, you will, but understandably it’s not always going to be the case. In those cases, it’s better to see you off in better spirits then before in the end anyway.
To conclude a horrendously long post, I shall end with a challenge.
If you are an author of a blog yourself, write a post about why you started writing, what got you started, and whatever in the world made you think it was a great idea to do so. Then, write about why you are still writing today.

Again, thanks Larísa for yet another good post to get the thoughts flowing!
And on a side note, more guides will be getting pumped out soon enough!

I’m glad to say that over the course of tonight I was able to update the Fireball raiding guide! Arcane and frostfire pages will be updated soon, so worry not if you prefer those raiding styles.
I would also like to mention if you happen to think of something useful that should be on the guides that have been left out, please feel free to comment on the page to let me know about your ideas!
>>Click Here To Check It Out<<
I would also like to point out that there are not a lot of images in the sections to make it more astheticly pleasing, but these will be added later! I am just focusing on adding the content first before making it all look pretty.
Again, thanks for reading!

I shall be updating, ideally completely re-writing,
all of my guides.
I wan’t to make them as completely concise as possible
while not being too much of a bore.
(If they were boring, you might as well read Elitist Jerks).
So, expect within the next coming days to see some changes!
(Also, I’ve been running out of ideas for quotes. I may be just doing quotes in general, or doing them less frequently.)
Thanks for reading!

Hello blogosphere, I introduce to you my new alias, Azryu (Az-ree-you),

I decided to change my name, in-game as well as out, for the simplicity and ease of exchanging my player name without the hassle of explaining special characters.
I also fancy the idea of actually having a real name rather then a phrase that I pawned off to be a name. It works alot better with titles too, though I admit “Theawakening of Stormwind” would have worked out nicely.
Besides this, I am currently at work helping craft our mage raiding guides here at AMGTL, as WELL as at Raider101.com. For those of us who listen to The Twisted Nether Blogcast, we might have heard a thing or two about it in the interview with Greylo from Grey Matter. Raiding 101 is a website intended to provide people with an easy, fast, and consise resource on how to raid as a [class] with [a certain] spec. So, that being said, I will be updating my own website other the course of these coming weeks to be up to par in every way!
(At least thats the idea.)
But yes, back on subject.
From now on, you may call me
Twilight Vanquisher Azryu, Officer of <Overcome>
Oh, what a joyous day it was, yesterday.
We entered Ulduar and after incountable whipes we downed Ignis.
Now, this in itself was a gift, since we had spent our entire raiding
time alloted within our day on that one encounter.
But when he fell, a nice new staff dropped!

Now, I may be completely alone in this, and I am prepared to
face these facts if they prove true.
However.
Is it not the wish of alot of casters to… weild a staff again, for once?
I think that having a sword and an offhand seems less… in accordance
with the caster feel. While holding your spell book in the off hand does,
a spikey looking sword doesn’t quite seem fitting to me.
But is it not within our nature, as casters, to want to weild a staff?
Is it just me, or is it a multidute of us?
I leave that for you to decide.
